Congressmen Brett Guthrie and Richard Hudson have announced a hearing on artificial intelligence and communications infrastructure. The event, titled “AI in the Everyday: Current Applications and Future Frontiers in Communications and Technology,” will take place on June 4, 2025, at 10:30 AM ET in the Rayburn House Office Building. It will be open to the public and press, with a livestream available online.

“Artificial intelligence is launching our economy into a new American golden age marked by development and opportunity,” said Chairmen Guthrie and Hudson. They emphasized the importance of fast, reliable networks for innovation and technological advancement.

Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at NVIDIA, testified before the U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee about AI’s transformative role in telecommunications. He highlighted AI’s ability to optimize mobile networks for efficiency and security, support new services like autonomous vehicles, and foster economic growth through software-defined RAN architecture.

Vasishta also discussed U.S. leadership opportunities in 6G networks. NVIDIA’s research platform supports global developers in creating AI-native wireless solutions. Partnerships with companies like T-Mobile validate AI-integrated RAN deployments.

Cybersecurity was another focus of Vasishta’s testimony. He noted that AI is crucial for real-time threat detection in decentralized 6G networks.

Policy recommendations included funding R&D for software-defined networks through agencies such as NSF and DoD, promoting U.S. participation in international standards bodies, and supporting domestic companies developing AI-native wireless stacks.

Vasishta concluded by urging Congress to act swiftly to ensure that AI-native telecom infrastructure defines economic and strategic leadership in the 6G era.
