FOIA Request to Foothill College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 3, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, South SFV Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Foothill College. The request seeks detailed information about the college’s current Chinese National students and related policies.
The specific records requested under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq. include:
1. Documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If student names are protected, we have asked for the total number of such students and a breakdown by department.
2. Information on scholarships received by these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.
3. Details on any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council that are awarded to these students.
4. Policies or procedures outlining how the university monitors students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.
This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing transparency in government actions through public records access. As media professionals committed to disseminating information and holding public institutions accountable, we believe this request is crucial for providing transparency to the public.
We have also requested a fee waiver given our role in gathering and reporting news for public benefit. For more information about our partners in this endeavor, please visit [https://stopsecrecy.org/about/](https://stopsecrecy.org/about/).
