Stanford senior Elise Evans has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) co-Defensive Player of the Week after helping her team secure two victories at the start of the season. This is Evans’ third conference weekly honor in her collegiate career and her first since Stanford joined the ACC. She was previously recognized as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2022.
Stanford began its season with a 7-0 win over San Francisco, followed by a 5-1 victory against No. 16 Santa Clara. Evans contributed significantly, recording two assists in the opener and scoring her first goal of the season against Santa Clara. The goal marked her sixth career score, and it was also her first match with multiple assists.
Evans played a total of 136 minutes at center back across both matches, helping limit opponents to only six shots—just one on target.
She shares this week’s Defensive Player of the Week award with Valentina Amaral from Wake Forest. Duke’s Mia Minestrella received Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Stanford will continue its five-game homestand by hosting San Diego State on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
