Eight members of the Stanford Cardinal wrestling team were named National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans, the organization announced on Apr. 1.
This recognition highlights academic achievement among collegiate wrestlers across the country. The honor is awarded annually to student-athletes who meet specific academic criteria set by the NWCA.
Stanford’s wrestling team placed 12th nationally with a team grade point average of 3.54 and was one of four Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the top 30, along with Duke, Virginia, and Pittsburgh. The eight individual honorees from Stanford are Daniel Cardenas, Luke Duthie, Nico Provo, Tyler Knox, Abraham Wojcikiewicz, Jack Consiglio, EJ Parco, and Angelo Posada.
Provo received his third career honor as a Scholar All-American at 125 pounds. Knox (133 pounds) and Cardenas (157 pounds) earned their second career accolades. Consiglio (141 pounds), Parco (165 pounds), Wojcikiewicz (184 pounds), Posada (197 pounds), and Duthie (285 pounds) were recognized for the first time.
Stanford tied for fifth-most honorees among institutions nationwide with its eight selections. Arizona State and Missouri led all schools with ten recipients each; Brown and Pittsburgh followed with nine each.
The NWCA All-Academic Team this year included 390 student-athletes from 73 different schools.
