Stanford men’s tennis concluded its participation at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Stockton, California, with several players advancing deep into the tournament. The team secured eight singles victories and four doubles wins during the event.
Alex Chang and Alex Razeghi, playing as a doubles pair for the first time, advanced to the semifinals after winning three matches. Their run included an 8-2 opening win and two consecutive victories over seeded opponents before they were defeated 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinal round.
In singles play, Chang, who is ranked No. 41 nationally and was the top seed at this event, reached the quarterfinals. He recorded wins against players from Santa Clara, Gonzaga, and California before losing in three sets in the quarterfinals: 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Razeghi entered the tournament as the No. 119 singles player in the country and played his first collegiate tournament of the season. He achieved victories over competitors from Oregon and Gonzaga but was eliminated in a three-set match during the round of 16.
Mark Krupkin and Luke Tusher each earned their first career singles wins at this tournament. Krupkin finished with a 2-2 record after defeating players from Sacramento State and Portland State. Tusher went 1-2 with a victory over an opponent from Portland. Together as a doubles team, Krupkin and Tusher won one match against Saint Mary’s before being knocked out in subsequent rounds.
The Stanford men’s tennis team will compete next at the ITA Sectional Championships and ITA Conference Masters scheduled for November 6–8 in Berkeley and San Diego.
