Sienna Green, an Olympic silver medalist from Australia, is set to join Stanford’s women’s water polo team for the 2026 season. The announcement was made by John Tanner, the Dunlevie Family Director of Women’s Water Polo at Stanford. Green, who has significant international experience with the Australian National Team, won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. She was a standout player at UCLA before deciding to transfer.
“We are extremely excited to have Sienna joining our team and program,” Tanner said. “As someone who has performed superbly in global and domestic water polo and in the classroom, she will be a wonderful addition to the Stanford community.”
Green expressed her enthusiasm about joining Stanford: “I’m incredibly excited to begin this next chapter on The Farm and continue both my academic and athletic journey within such a world-class program.”
Green had an impressive freshman year at UCLA in 2023, earning an ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American honor. Before focusing on the Olympics in 2024, she played a pivotal role for her college team.
A native of Mosman, Australia, Green has been part of the Australian national setup since 2018. Her international career highlights include being captain and top scorer at the 2022 FINA World Youth Water Polo Championships.
Stanford’s women’s water polo team recently claimed its 10th NCAA title overall in 2025. The team finished with a record of 25-1 and defeated USC in the championship game. Juliette Dhalluin, another recent transfer to Stanford from Arizona State, also played a key role during this successful season.
