Stanford senior Alyssa Jones was named ACC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, according to a March 27 announcement from the conference office.
This recognition marks the first time a Stanford field athlete has received this honor in program history. The award highlights Jones’s achievements during the indoor season and her contributions to Stanford track and field.
Jones secured three high jump titles and two long jump titles over the course of the indoor season. She matched her career-best high jump with a clearance of 1.91 meters at the UW Preview, with both her high jump and long jump performances ranking first in the Atlantic Coast Conference and among the top five nationally. At last month’s ACC Championships, Jones repeated as champion in high jump with a mark of 1.86 meters and finished second in long jump at 6.38 meters, earning Women’s Field Most Valuable Performer honors for a second consecutive year.
Her strong performance continued at the NCAA Championships, where she reached new personal bests by finishing runner-up in long jump and third place in high jump—both results placing her on national podiums. With these results, Jones is now recognized as a ten-time NCAA All-American.
Previously, only Kori Carter (2013) and Chryste Gaines (1992) had been named Women’s Track Athlete of the Year for Stanford under Pac-12 competition; Jones is now added to this distinguished list but as Field Athlete of the Year under ACC affiliation.
Looking ahead, after opening their outdoor season at last weekend’s Cal Invitational, Stanford will host its first home meet—the Stanford Invitational—on April 3-4.
